Commissioning Artwork

The first step in commissioning artwork is to ask yourself a series of questions:

1. What kind of piece are you looking for and what purpose does it serve?
Commissioned art can be a gift for someone else, a piece you’ve always wanted but can’t find,
or a specific piece tailored to fill a space in your home, office, or business.

2.  What is your budget?
You need to determine what your budget is and what type of payment plan works best for you.  Some of our clients pay a deposit and the remainder upon completion, while others pay with installment plans.  We also offer a discounted first time buyer program.

3. What is your aesthetic?
Think about the palettes, textures, colors and compositions you have envisioned or are already attracted to. Also determine whether you prefer more contemporary art or traditional pieces.

4. What size painting do you want?

5. When would you like the piece?
You may be commissioning artwork for a special occasion, whether it’s an anniversary, completion of a new home or the opening of a new office.  We can work with you to set an realistic timeframe for completion.

Once you have answered the above questions, we will work through the following sequence:

  1. Fill out questionnaire and provide as much imagery as possible.
  2. Meet with Maggie in the studio to discuss the questionnaire and details regarding the piece.
  3. Establish a timeline for proofs, reviews of the piece as it comes to life, delivery and installation.
  4. Pay the deposit which allows Maggie to create up to 3 thumbnail or smaller versions of the larger piece.
  5. Meet onsite or in the studio to approve and edit thumbnails.
  6. Begin executing the final piece; you are welcome to visit the studio or receive updated images as it is being created.
  7. Meet onsite or in the studio to edit and finalize the piece.
  8. Delivery and installation of your new artwork. Final payment due upon delivery.
